Hong Kong A Team to play Claremont College (USA)
June 02, 2008

newsarticle imageThe Hong Kong A Team will be playing against Claremont College from the US on Tuesday, June 3, at King’s Park Sports Ground.

The team had played two Test matches against Chinese Taipei last week, also at King’s Park. Chinese Taipei won the first match 32-17, and the two teams drew 22-22 in the second Test match.

“We’ve done a bit of maintenance, to try to fix up on other errors from the previous games,” said coach Kane Jury. “We’ll treat tomorrow [June 3] as a formal game and score lots of points.”

This is the first time Hong Kong has played the college team from the town community in eastern Los Angeles County.

“We know nothing about them. All I know is that they’re from Southern California. We’ll treat it like any other international team coming to Hong Kong. We’ll play our game and do our passing right,” he said.

The Hong Kong squad is a mixture of older players and young guys.

“There’s a lot of difference in the team [this time]. A couple of boys have picked up some injuries, such as Simon Tasker and Mike McKee. But we are still hoping to put some points on and score a lot of tries,” Jury added.
